Children’s Dentistry

Children's Dentistry

Our children’s dentistry – Jericho Dental Centre turns dental visits into a fun learning experience for children!

Our dedicated and friendly dental team loves working with children. We aim at making our dental office a place that children want to come back to. We ensure that your child’s experience is filled with trust, security, and excitement, leaving them feeling comfortable, happy, and open to learning about their teeth and oral health.
Children's Dentistry

Children’s Dentistry is important to ensuring healthy and dazzling white smiles. According to the Canadian Dental Association, your child’s first dental visit should be by the age of one, or within the first six months from the eruption of the first tooth. While most parents are unaware of its importance, early care in children’s teeth and oral health is essential. Education, prevention, and good hygiene are among the reasons why we like to see your children at an early age. The first appointment we treat as a fun introduction to dentistry. We will check for decay, review brushing techniques, clean and polish their teeth, and provide a fluoride treatment. We also use the first exam to educate parents about their child’s oral health and discuss with them the importance of a healthy diet and how different foods and drinks can affect their child’s teeth.

At Jericho Dental Centre, we’re passionate about children’s dentistry and helping your child have a dazzling smile!

Root Canal Therapy

Root Canal Therapy

Want Relief From Tooth Pain? Root Canal Therapy Can Save Teeth, Relieve Pain, And Swelling

Our teeth have a chamber on the inside that contains the dental pulp, which consists of nerves, blood vessels, and soft tissue. If the pulp gets infected or injured, due to a fracture, dental accident, decay, or cavities, Root Canal Therapy, also known as endodontic treatment, might be necessary.

Root Canal Treatment Process

Endodontic treatment is one of the commonly feared dental treatments, however, today’s dental technology, as well as our professional and experienced dentist at Jericho Dental can make the process as smooth, simple, and comfortable as can be.

First step is to make an opening into the chewing surface of the tooth, creating access to the pulp chamber. The infected pulp is removed and space is cleaned thoroughly. The pulp chamber and root canal is then filled and sealed carefully. In most cases, a full-coverage dental restoration, such as a dental crown or dental onlays, has to be attached to the tooth to prevent further damage and restore the tooth’s shape, strength and function.

Gum Disease Therapy

Want Relief From Tooth Pain? Root Canal Therapy Can Save Teeth, Relieve Pain, And Swelling

Gum Disease, also known as Periodontal Disease, is an inflammation of the gums that is caused by bacterial and tartar build-up on our teeth and under the gum line. Tartar forms over time when bacterial and plaque build-ups are not cleaned off and harden on our teeth. The severity of the disease may vary depending on the amount of plaque accumulation.

Gum-Disease-Therapy-stages
The early stage of the disease is called Gingivitis and is very common. It is usually defined by:

Mild gum irritation.

Minor bleeding during regular brushing and flossing.

Occasional bad breath.

If you’re experiencing any of the above-mentioned discomforts or noticing any unusual signs, call us to book an appointment with Dr. Snehal Shah at 604.539.0211 !
Periodontal Disease
Before After
Gingivitis can be controlled and treated with regular brushing and flossing, and routine dental cleanings by our professional dental hygienists at Jericho Dental. If left untreated, the minor gum inflammation will worsen and the disease will get into the more serious stage, called Periodontitis. Dental pockets form, where the gum separates from the teeth, often causing it to be noticeably receded, swollen, red, and tender. Bone loss may occur and if left to advance bone destruction continues and the tooth will loosen to the point of falling out or requiring extraction. Signs for periodontitis include:

Tooth Extraction

Your Langley Dentist, Dr. Snehal Shah, and Team Offer Tooth Extraction When Tooth Infections Cannot Be Resolved.

One of the main goals of modern dentistry is to save teeth whenever possible. But in some situations, Dr. Snehal Shah at Jericho Dental Centre may determine that it is best to remove (extract) a tooth instead. When this is the case, Dr. Shah explains the reasons and informs you of the consequences and any treatments that may follow.

Reasons For Tooth Extractions

Tooth Removal Recovery

It is normal to feel some soreness for a few days after a tooth is removed. Any discomfort can usually be relieved by taking over-the-counter pain medication, such as ibuprofen or acetaminophen. You should also hold an ice pack on the outside of the cheek: place it on for 5 minutes, then take it off for 5 minutes, and repeat as needed for one hour to reduce the potential swelling in the first 24 hours. Call our Langley dental office immediately, if you’re experiencing uncontrollable pain or healing problems after your tooth extraction procedure.

Dentures

Dentures

Dr. Snehal Shah your Langley dentist offers well-fitted dentures to replace your lost natural teeth

If you have lost all of your natural teeth because of periodontal disease, injury, tooth decay, or any other reason, then complete dentures will improve your appearance and quality of life. Dentures in general, improve your ability to chew food, help you speak better if your speech has changed due to missing teeth, and improve your appearance by supporting cheeks and lips. At Jericho Dental Centre, we offer solutions for patients who have lost some or all of their natural teeth. Dentures are an affordable solution to replace missing teeth and nearby gum tissue. Denture design and technology have improved, and it is now possible to create aesthetic, functional, and well-fitted dentures for most patients.

Complete Dentures

A complete acrylic denture covers the entire upper or lower jaw. They rest directly on the gums and take the place of teeth. Impressions are taken and fittings are required to make sure the fit is just right. This may require multiple visits but having a well-fitted denture is a must if you want to be able to eat and speak with confidence.

Partial Dentures

Partial dentures are composed of a metal framework with plastic teeth and gum areas that take the place of missing teeth. The framework may include metal or resin clasps that act to hold the denture in place more securely.
If you’re missing some, or all of your teeth, call us at 604.539.0211

Mouthguards

Our Langley dental office offers well-fitted mouthguards to protect your teeth, jaws, lips, cheeks, and gums.

Mouthguards are resilient plastic appliances designed to protect a person’s teeth from impacting force from teeth grinding and injuries while playing sports. At Jericho Dental Centre in Langley, BC, we provide you with custom-fitted mouthguards that are designed specifically to perfectly fit your dental arch to provide the ultimate protection.

Sports Guard

Sports Guards

Sports guards are recommended to all our athlete patients or patients who partake in high-intensity daily activities. They ensure the safety of your teeth during any sports encounters, accidents, or injuries. The sports guard absorbs the pressure exerted by any force to the mouth area, leaving your teeth and gums intact.

Sports Guard

Night Guards

Nightguards are essential for people, who tend to grind their teeth or clench their jaws during sleep. This hard to control habit can cause serious health problems, such as chronic headaches, earaches, and jaw pain, among others. The night guard absorbs the pressure caused by teeth grinding, prevents your teeth from getting worn down and absorbs the pressure that can effect your jaw joints and muscles.
